Workflow Scheduling
Ah Daniel-San, you have come far in your mastery of the art of workflow-fu. It is now time to achieve oneness with the workflow and embrace workflow scheduling. In this section we will cover:
- Starting a workflow
- Basic scheduling
- Scheduling using different credentials
- Reoccurring workflows
There will be times, say during workflow development, or with workflows tied into web views, that you will want to start a workflow manually; do this by drilling down to the workflow you wish to execute, right clicking, can do this and selecting “Start Workflow” as is shown in Figure 6.17.
For most maintenance tasks, you will work with scheduled workflows. This will allow you to execute the maintenance without having to be awake during the maintenance win-dow. Unless you want to be that is. To schedule a workflow you have two options, “Schedule Workflow” which will store the credentials of the user schedul-ing said workflow, or “Schedule Workflow As…” that allows you to sup-ply the credentials of a service account. We are going to work with “Schedule Workflow As…” to schedule the “Email vCO Logs” workflow we created earlier to run once a week. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right click, Schedule Workflow As.
- In the resulting window, provide credentials.
- Under “Run Date and Time” select Tuesday at 11am.
- Set the reoccurrence to Tuesday’s at 11am.
- Submit the workflow.
Figure 6.18 shows the scheduling window filled out with the above options. Once you submit the workflow, it will show up under the “scheduler” tab in the vCO client as shown in Figure 6.19.
