Every now and then, I have to toot my sponsor's horn for this blog. It's not because they pay me to write these posts (which they do): no, it's because Pearson sometimes offers such terrific deals on items they create or sell that it would be a disservice to my readers not to clue them in as to what's going on. Curious? Cert funds to spend?Deal Number One: All the Ultimate Bundles on Sale until April 13
In past blog posts I've documented various deals on books, practice tests, and video training materials bundled up together on a variety of topics that include CCENT/ICND1, CCNA Routing & Switching 200-120, CompTIA Big Three: A+, Network+, Security+, and VMWare and/or CCNP Routing and Switching, with savings up to 45% on comparable single-item purchases. ALL of these deals are available at the same time, in their final week, through April 13 (5 more days, as I write this blog post). You'll definitely want to check out this savings opportunity
MS-Press and Pearson: Now Making Music (and Books) Together!
I almost fell out of my chair this morning when I saw a Microsoft Press Exam Ref
title -- specifically, 70-412: Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 R2 Services -- on the Pearson Promotion pages for this month. "This can mean only one thing," I thought to myself "--namely, MS Press is now under the Pearson umbrella." For the past three or four years, O'Reilly Media had custody of the MS imprint, but now things have changed. I confirmed with one of my Pearson contacts that they are indeed now handling MS Press for the Colossus of Redmond, after which I realized that the company now has a pretty major footprint in the MS space, what with its own Cert Guide
and Exam Cram
series, now augmented with the numerous MS Press series (not just Exam Ref
, but also Microsoft Official Curriculum, aka MOC, and other training and prep material publications).
Deal of the Week: CISSP Exam Cram
Michael Gregg's excellent CISSP Exam Cram
is available as an e-book in all formats (Kindle, PDF, and ePUB) at half-price, for $19.95. Normally, these books are limited to 500 pages in length -- I should know, I designed this series! -- but this one is a whopping 640 pages, and includes lots of practice questions, as well as completely updated coverage of key topics such as cloud security, governance and compliance topics, information lifecycles, and encryption technologies. A very nice addition to anybody's information security library, and even better for those prepping for the most current version of the CISSP exam.
Last but not Least: 10% Off on CompTIA Exams
I knew the designation of VUE (another Pearson company) as the exclusive testing center exam provider for CompTIA would have to pay dividends for cert candidates sooner or later. And the time for the payoff is apparently right now: because Pearson is a Platinum CompTIA Partner, it can mark down exam vouchers on CompTIA's exams. Until the end of April, 2014, that means you can visit the CompTIA discount code
page at Pearson, and use the various discount codes available there to get 10% off on the A+, Network+, Security+, and HealthCare IT Technician exams from CompTIA. This means at least $16 off on the cheapest exam (HealthCare) and up to $36 on the most expensive one (A+).
