On Wednesday, 11/17/10, Cisco announced the release of a new CCDA exam. This new DESGN 2.1 exam will be available on December 16th. What does this mean for your exam preparation efforts?
The new DESGN 2.1 exam is a fairly minor update from the 2.0 version. If you were already preparing for the 2.0 exam, you can still take that version until April 30, 2011. The 2.1 exam reflects the latest developments in network design
and technologies, including areas such as borderless networks, data
center/virtualization, and collaboration for enterprise and commercial
We at Pearson IT Certification are working on updating our CCDA Official Cert Guide to align to the new 2.1 DESGN exam objectives. The new edition removes coverage of SONA, wireless topics, and voice topics. It adds a brand new chapter on designing the enterprise data center, including a discussion of virtualization design considerations as well as many other updates to every chapter.
I'm working on releasing the early drafts of the chapters to our Rough Cuts program today. I expect the CCDA Official Cert Guide Rough Cut (ISBN: 0132372185) to be available by early December, so check back on our site in the next couple of weeks to get your copy of this early access version of the official study guide. The print version (ISBN: 1587142570) is on track to publish in April 2011.
Pearson IT Certification will also be releasing an updated version of the Designing Cisco Internetwork Architectures (DESGN) Foundation Learning Guide. The Rough Cut version (ISBN: 0132582392) of this title should be out by January. The print version (ISBN: 158720424X) is scheduled for publication in late June.
